ACM Awards Best Dressed

Today I am going to rave and critique my top 5 favorite looks from the American Country Music Awards this pass weekend...

Tracy Ripsin

Tracy Ripsin looked darling her in chiffon blush gown. The conservative neckline and hidden waistband flatter her figure very nicely. Her soft beach waves add to the romantic look, and her skin is glowing in this color. Also, the snakeskin clutch is a very nice touch of texture without deviating from the neutral color scheme.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the necklace; while it does work with the color scheme, I may have done without or paired a more dainty gold element.

Caroline Boyer

Caroline Boyer rocked this cleavage baring, backless, cobalt gown. The cut of the top of the dress really accentuated her toned and tan physique, and the elegant cobalt color topped with dark beading added a bit of pizzazz on the red carpet. She was smart to pair this busy gown with plain black heels so there is no distraction or clashing with the dress.

The dramatic eyelashes were also a nice tough to tag along with the glamour of this gown. Tip: cobalt is a gorgeous color for light blondes! I don't know why, but cobalt and light blonde hair compliment each other so well and always look gorgeous. And it's always a bonus when you and your man subtly match like these two did here!

Lacey Owen

Lacey Owen looked stellar in this asymmetrical jewel tone gown. the tied waist and bustier top are nice, elegant details to break up such a plain dress. Her addition of silver sparkles with her single bangle and earrings were the cherry on top of this minimalistic look. I think a necklace would've been too much with this gown, so good call on her part! Also, her pulled back hair adds a hint of sophistication to the look that ties it all together.

My only issue with the look is that Lacey and Jake Owen seem to be on entirely different pages when it came to the attire for the event. It may have been better if they decided to look coherent in some way, whether Jake dressed up slightly more or Lacey let her hair down a little.

Taylor Swift

While Taylor Swift may have skipped out on the red carpet, she still dazzled the world in this baby blue Reem Acra gown. The side cutouts with a high neckline was a tasteful way of hopping on the cutout trend while not showing too much skin. Snaps and claps for keeping it modest! The embellished front added a lot of depth and character to the gown that would've been much needed otherwise. She topped off the sophisticated look with a sleek cat-eye and classic red lip.

While her look may have been jaw-dropping, I was not a fan of her shoe choice at all. I think the light brown, shiny pumps were way to chunky and clashed with this chic look. I would've much rather seen her slip on some simple sliver heels and let the dress take all the attention.

Candice Crawford

Candice Crawford looked so sweet in this coral, mesh patterned, ankle length dress. I love the faux cutouts on the neckline, that is another way to keep it classy while keeping up with the cutout trend. Coral is also a beautiful color for blondes, it seems to highlight the hair color and tan skin tones. Her choice of dainty, yet unique, nude heels was perfect to pair with this busy dress.

Tony Romo's navy suit was the perfect compliment to her dress as well. A+ Candice & Tony!

  1. Caroline Boyer's look is something I wouldn't choose for myself (because 'myself' couldn't pull it off!) but wow do I love it. She looks great!
