10 Fall Trends You Won't Want to Miss

It's finally the weekend! I don't know about y'all, but for me this week seemed to drag on forever...while I really got off easy this week when it came to school, one day I didn't even have class and all the other days besides today I didn't even have to wake up before 11 am, but this morning I did have to give a speech for my public speaking class which I have been low-key dreading all week. Only four other people ended up showing up to class though, so that made it a lot better. Nonetheless, thank goodness it's finally the weekend!

To kick off the weekend, I'm going to share with y'all 10 fall trends you should be embracing right now! Fall is by far my favorite season when it comes to fashion; it allows for so much individualization through layering and accessories that it's impossible not to have fun with it. I've compiled a few examples of my favorite ways each trend has been styled as well as shop able links for each one; you may even want to take some time out of your weekend to add some of these trendy pieces to your wardrobe!

1. Suede

1970's fashion is coming back in full force, and as a trend that is forecasted to last for two seasons, I would say it's worth the investment. From bell bottoms to fringe to the fabric of the decade: suede, it would be hard to find a piece that doesn't fit your style. I'm especially loving the suede skirts; I find them especially versatile and perfect for the not-so-fall weather a lot of us have been experiencing in the midwest lately. 2. T-Shirt Dresses

T-shirt dresses are by far my favorite trend this fall. I love how I can effortlessly look put together and semi dressed up all while feeling like I'm wearing a super soft night gown. They are also perfect to pair with another huge trend this fall: blanket scarves. Another perk is that it is the ideal game day dress; you are guaranteed to be comfortable all day, and they come in basically every color imaginable so you're bound to find one that matches your school. Let's just say I would not complain if a t-shirt dress in every single color imaginable appeared in my closet.

3. Over the Knee Boots

Now I'll be honest, I wasn't super fond of this trend initially, but it's really starting to grow on me. The over the knee look seems to add a touch of glamour that typical boots do not. Also, call me lazy, but is there even really a reason to go out of your way to shave your legs when less than half of it is showing?? Just throwing that out there!

4. Blanket Scarves

Blanket scarves became quite a big trend last year, and they're back for round two. I just love how cozy these scarves are. I especially love mine in the last photo because it matches my school colors, so it is seriously the best game day accessory ever thanks to Structured KC. I would definitely recommend checking the shop out if you're looking for some unique and nice quality blanket scarves at a reasonable price.

P.S. if you get cold at the game, you can just turn it into a blanket!

5. Booties

Booties. The shoe staple of the season. Whether you wear them with skirts, dresses, tall socks, cuffed jeans, leggings, etc., you can't go wrong. To be completely honest, I don't own a pair of brown booties right now, and it's killing me! These are at the top of my "to buy" list right now, but the price isn't really fitting into my college budget. Fortunately, I still own a pair of black booties I bought back in 8th grade, but I need to get my hands on some brown booties ASAP.

6. Turtlenecks

I don't know about you, but turtlenecks remind me of the itchy, thick sweaters of my elementary school years. Needless to say, I was a little hesitant at first when I saw the old school neckline come back this season, but thank goodness most of the turtlenecks today are made out of super soft and comfy material. From dresses to tees, the higher neckline adds the perfect fall touch to any outfit.

7. Faux Fur

Faux fur, like the blanket scarf, is a trend that started to get pretty big last year and has returned again for this season, and I'm pretty darn excited about it. I love the texture a fur vest adds to an outfit, and how it effortlessly makes the look so much more fall-esque and glam. Beware though, some come with a slightly hefty price tag. I would recommend checking out your local Marshall's or T.J. Maxx first; I ended up finding an absolutely beautiful one there for only $20!

8. Ponchos

Oh the poncho, where you can basically wear a blanket over yourself and look fashionable while doing it. It's also a perfect piece to pair with your thin turtlenecks! It's such a cozy and comfy fall piece, that it's pretty hard to not want to join in on this trend.

9. Mixing Stripes and Plaid

Remember when mixing patterns was a big no no? Well leave that advice in the past, because recently it appears that one of the only ways to wear stripes or plaid is together. Now I'm not saying go buy some plaid pants and pair them with a striped blouse (that may not be the best look), but I am saying to play around with the two patterns when it comes to layering. Grab your blanket scarf and striped turtleneck or t-shirt dress and you're ready to go, or try pairing your favorite fall flannel with a basic striped tee. You're bound to create a fun and unique layered look!

10. Felt Hats

To be honest, I don't think I've ever really worn a hat in my life (except when I go sledding or something), like not even a baseball hat, but I can definitely appreciate those who can pull them off. Felt hats have made a pretty strong mark this season, and I'm sure they're going to last well into the winter, so I would recommend picking one up soon!
