Yes, you read that right. This crazy cat lady got a Great Dane! Needless to say, I was super surprised when my mom texted me a picture of this little cutie saying he would be ours a couple months ago, and this past Saturday, we welcomed him into our home!
His name is Bacchus, after the Mardi Gras parade, and also the Greek god of wine haha! A little known fact is that a Great Dane is actually my second favorite dog breed (an Australian shepherd being the first), and after my family having seven Labrador retrievers, I was beyond stoked to hear that we were getting a Great Dane!
While everyone wants to soak in every moment of their dog being a little puppy, I will be extra sure to enjoy every second he is little because before I know it he will be 175 pounds and bigger than me! I'm sure my cats can't wait to have this soon to be giant parading around the house.
I remember the first day we got him I thought he was such a mellow and shy puppy, and I was like oh he will be easy! But man was I wrong! He is an ornery little ball of energy. If a puppy wears me out now, I don't know how I will be able to manage children in the future; he is big enough of a handful. Although, I have to say, his little clumsy run is too cute!
Bacchus also wants to chew everything, especially toes! It's hard to keep an eye on him 24/7, but we're trying to teach him kisses instead of bites!
There is no denying he is adorable, though! He is super soft, friendly and has the cutest personality. I'm so glad I will be able to spend his puppy months home with him.
Now you may be thinking he converted me into a dog person, but I have to say cats are still more my speed. Regardless, I can't wait to love on this gentle giant in the years to come! Welcome to the family Bacchus!
