Happy Monday y'all! I'm not going to lie, I was dragging this morning; between waking up to thunderstorms and the pure idea of it being Monday, getting out of bed was by no means a small undertaking. But the dreary day reminded me of the day I spent in Aspen, Colorado this summer! It was overcast and rainy the whole day I was there, but that didn't stop my family and I from exploring the area.
We started our day in Aspen super slow. After traveling for two weeks, my family and I were ready for some rest, but around noon we decided to go downtown to grab some lunch and walk around. It was only sprinkling in the afternoon, so I just threw on a denim jacket over my dress. It was the perfect layering piece because it kept me relatively warm and dry as we walked around.
We stopped by a pizzeria for lunch, and I am a strong believer that Colorado has the best pizza in the country. Every single time my family and I go to Colorado we get pizza, and I always leave thinking I just had the best pizza ever. I can't pinpoint what I love about it so much but keep it up Colorado!
After getting lunch we walked around all the little shops for a while before heading back to the hotel to relax. We stayed at the Inn at Aspen, and can I just say they had some of the coolest, neon lighting in their lobby! But after resting for a couple hours we went back into town for dinner. The rain was starting to fall harder and the temperature had significantly dropped, so I changed into leggings and a sweater for the evening. We ate at Acquolina Trattoria & Pizzeria, where we were surprisingly able to snag a table without a reservation, but I'm not going to lie, I couldn't read half the menu... I ended up just playing it safe by ordering fettuccine Alfredo, and it was super tasty!
That about sums up my time in Aspen. I was only there for a day, and the rain limited a lot of what we could do. But I think we made the most of it, and it made for a fun yet relaxing day before heading back to Kansas!
