5 Fall Essentials in College

During the first two months on campus I rarely if ever wear anything other than a t-shirt and Nike shorts to class because honestly, I'd sweat to death in anything else. Although, once the cooler weather starts to kick in, I tend to have a little more variety in what I wear. Don't get me wrong, leggings and a sweatshirt are an easy go-to, but I've noticed five other staples in my closet that I gravitate towards when I want to look a little more put together but still comfy in fall!

1. Trendy Sneakers

With a decent walk to class every day, my Nike tennis shoes are my favorite shoes to wear to campus, but on days where I want to look a little more put together I'll swap them out for a more trendy sneaker like these Tretorn ones. They're comparably comfortable on my walk to class, but look cute paired with both jeans and leggings!

2. Basic Pocket Tees

Pocket tees are a staple in my closet, and I really need to invest in more! I wear them a variety of ways year-round, and in the fall they're super easy to throw on under layering pieces like cardigans, jackets and vests. My favorite ones are from Altar'd State (come in short and long sleeve!), Free People and Simply Shine Boutique

3. Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters are probably my favorite to wear to campus because they easily make my outfit look 1000x cuter but are also incredibly cozy and warm. They're basically just a more feminine alternative to my sweatshirt and leggings look. I just order this one (currently 40% off!) this past weekend, which I'm super excited for, and I've also been obsessed with this one from Free People all season!

4. Denim, Denim & More Denim

I'm the type of person who usually has one or two pairs of jeans and calls it good for a couple of years. But this season every shape and form of denim is in style, and I'm kind of loving it! For on campus outfits a variety of jeans like my super comfortable Flying Monkey ones and these distressed black ones are versatile staples, and denim jackets are a fun layering piece.

5. Flannels

Finally, on days when it's not too chilly, oversized flannels are a comfortable and seasonally appropriate alternative to chunky cardigans and jackets. I order a few sizes up to give it the oversized, relaxed look and then wear it over either sorority t-shirts or basic v-necks. I currently have my eye on this one and this one because they're both fairly neutral.
